The History of Mt Zion Christ The Cornerstone Song – Article by April L.Osterstock, Anniversary History Committee
Composed By Sylvia Keller, the history of this song is simple and endearing. In 2012, at the beginning of the 250th Anniversary Celebration year, a challenge was made by Reverend James Hammond, Pastor, to the Anniversary Music Committee; ‘Write a song about Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church before the celebration was over.’
On June 12, 2012, Sylvia D. Keller, Choir Director and Accompanist, completed the challen9e with this son9. It was revealed and sung by the Adult Choir durin9 the June 2012 Outdoor Service which was held on June 24, 2012. A pig roast and picnic also followed the service and was attended by many.
Sylvia’s talents are evident through this musical piece. The song was written in cooperation with her daughter, Shalan, and copywrited.
She is well known for her great musical talents and has been the accompanist and Adult Choir Director for almost 30 years. Beyond the gift of a beautiful voice, her musical talents are well beyond the level that words would do justice. She plays many instruments in addition to the piano and organ.
We, at Mt. Zion, have been truly blessed with the friendship and talents of Mrs. Sylvia Keller
